Huddle Up: Mark Ingram could be a star

An abbreviated look at what’s going on around the NFL on Thursday, Sept. 1:

• The Saints loaded up at running back this offseason in an attempt to improve their 28th-ranked ground attack. It's rookie Mark Ingram that has New Orleans most excited, though, heading into the season.

• Chad Hall finds himself squarely on the roster bubble in Philadelphia after making 11 catches during his rookie season. His fate could rest on the number of wide receivers the Eagles opt to carry.

• Doug Legursky will open the regular season as the Steelers' starting right guard. The position was a revolving door for Pittsburgh in 2010, with Legursky making four starts.

• Jack Del Rio is trying to put the kibosh on a QB controversy in Jacksonville. "David (Garrard)'s our starter," Del Rio said emphatically, even while praising Blaine Gabbert's progress.

• The Bears would love to keep rookie wide receiver Dane Sanzenbacher, who's made a major impression during camp, but there may not be room on the roster to hold onto him.

• Jasper Brinkley's hip injury might lock David Herron into a spot on the Vikings' two-deep MLB depth chart for the entire 2011 season.
