Arian Foster, the NFL's leading rusher in 2011 with 1,616 yards, is inactive for the Texans' Week 1 showdown with the Colts. Foster injured his hamstring this preseason and speculation swirled that he may miss several weeks of the regular season.

In last year's season opener, a 34-24 Texans win over Indianapolis, Foster rushed for 231 yards and three touchdowns. He topped the 100-yard rushing mark against the Colts again in a 30-17 Week 8 loss.

Without Foster in the lineup, the Texans will turn their running game over to Ben Tate and Derrick Ward. Tate was Houston's second-round pick in the 2010 draft but suffered a severe ankle injury during the preseason and missed all of last year. He had a strong 2011 preseason, though, and will team with the veteran Ward, who rushed for 315 yards and four touchdowns last season with Houston.
