Huddle Up: Jones-Drew back to full speed?
An abbreviated look at what’s going on around the NFL on Thursday, Sept. 15:
• The Jaguars put Maurice Jones-Drew on a play count in Week 1 to help him deal with a sore knee. That plan may stay in place for Week 2, even though Jones-Drew says his knee is fully healthy.
• It's bad enough that Denver took a beating Monday night against Oakland. Now, the Broncos face the prospect of being severely shorthanded in Week 2.
• Rams coach Steve Spagnuolo says that quarterback Sam Bradford "looks like he's going to be OK" after injuring his right index finger Saturday. Bradford participated in full passing drills Wednesday at St. Louis' practice.
• Braylon Edwards has filed a $14 million lawsuit against a bar in Michigan, accusing the business of costing him a shot at a big free agent contract by accusing him of participating in an August fight.
• Donald Brown is trying to deal with his reduced role in the Colts offense -- with rookie Delone Carter backing up Joseph Addai, Brown has been relegated to Indianapolis' special teams.
• The Saints are staying optimistic about Marques Colston's broken collarbone. The initial timetable for Colston's return was approximately four weeks, and New Orleans still feels he will hit that mark.
• After finding the end zone Monday night against the Patriots, Dolphins wide receiver Brian Hartline broke out an interesting touchdown celebration.
