Michael Vick leaves game against Falcons with neck injury

Michael Vick exited Sunday night's Eagles-Falcons game with a neck injury after taking a hard shot on a passing play. Late in the third quarter, Vick was hit by Atlanta's William Moore as he threw the ball, then spun face-first into the shoulder of Philadelphia offensive lineman Todd Herremans.

Vick was seen spitting blood as he walked off the field, a result of Vick biting his tongue during the hit, according to the Eagles.

The Eagles called timeout to try and keep Vick in the game after the hit, but he needed the help of Philadelphia's trainers to get to the bench. Moments later, after the Eagles scored a touchdown with backup QB Mike Kafka in the game, Vick walked to the Philadelphia locker room.

Kafka had never taken a regular season NFL snap before coming into the game with Philadelphia on Atlanta's 9. Kafka handed off to LeSean McCoy on his first play, then drew a roughing-the-passer penalty on his second. McCoy scored from two yards out on first-and-goal after the infraction.

Those were the last points the Eagles would score, however, as Atlanta rallied from a 31-21 deficit to win 35-21. Kafka's final pass, a Hail Mary from the Falcons 45, fell incomplete in the end zone.

Vince Young, who signed with Philadelphia in the offseason, was inactive for the second straight week because of a hamstring injury.Vick's backup last season, Kevin Kolb, was traded to the Cardinals in the offseason.
