Huddle Up: Pete Caroll sticks up for Tarvaris Jackson
An abbreviated look at what’s going on around the NFL on Wednesday, Sept. 21:
• Pete Carroll continues to defend Tarvaris Jackson, arguing in a press conference Tuesday that the Seahawks QB isn't missing open receivers -- but admitted Jackson might not be making all the correct reads, either.
• Brian Orakpo didn't deny that the Redskins would try to target Tony Romo's ribs if the Dallas QB plays Monday night -- "If somebody gets injured you want to go after the injury" -- but said the main goal is simply to take Romo down.
• Tanard Jackson's year-long suspension for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy ends on Thursday. Whether or not he'll rejoin the Bucs after that is still up in the air.
• The Patriots have won 15 in a row against the Bills, but New England refuses to look past a much-improved Buffalo team this season.
• Injuries at wide receiver put Denver in such a precarious spot in Week 2 that Tim Tebow lined up in the slot for a few plays. The Broncostried to address their depth problems by signing Quan Cosby.
• The Bears certainly didn't look like world-beaters last Sunday in New Orleans. Still, Chicago GM Jerry Angelo maintains that he has a "good football team" and that the Bears "just have to go out there and prove it."
• Indianapolis' slow start (and the loss of Peyton Manning to injury) is trying the patience of even the most die-hard Colts fans.
