NFL Franchise Tags for 2012

Drew Brees, QB

Teams have from Feb. 20 until March 5 to apply the franchise tag on one of their free agents, allowing them to keep that player on a one-year deal for an average of the five highest-paid players at the player's position over the last five years. Teams can continue to negotiate long-term extensions for that player under the franchise tag.
