2014 Pro Bowl selections are announced
Peyton Manning received 1,432,257 Pro Bowl votes from fans, more than any other player. (David J. Phillip, AP)
The NFL named its 2014 Pro Bowlers on Friday night, with the honorees chosen by a mix of votes from fans, fellow players and coaches. The actual rosters for the game (Jan. 26 in Hawaii) will not be determined until Jan. 22 due to a new format -- the teams will be selected in a fantasy league-style draft. Deion Sanders and Jerry Rice are slated to serve as the captains.
Also, as we've seen in the past, many of the players originally selected for the game will withdraw for injury-related reasons or because they're participating in the next week's Super Bowl. (Any players whose teams make the Super Bowl are ineligible to play in the Pro Bowl.)
