Aldon Smith 'probably' won't play for San Francisco 49ers in 2014

The San Francisco 49ers aren't expected to release oft-troubled linebacker Aldon Smith, but that doesn't mean he'll be playing for them next season.

Smith is under investigation for an alleged false bomb threat at Los Angeles International Airport this past weekend, and is also dealing with three felony gun charges from a separate incident.

This of course comes after Smith crashed his car and left the 49ers for five games during the 2013 season to attend rehab for a self-admitted drinking problems.

Needless to say, Smith's problems run deeper than many understood, and that is among the reasons to believe he won't play a down for the 49ers this season, according to Tim Kawakami of the Mercury News.

Right to the point: My view, after talking to several sources involved with the 49ers’ decision-making, is that troubled linebacker Aldon Smith hasn’t only lost the benefit of the doubt, he probably won’t play for the 49ers in 2014.
