The Green Bay Packers have been trying to rebuild their relationship with former quarterback Brett Favre after an ugly end to his long tenure with the team, and they seem to be getting closer to honoring him the right way every year.

Packers president Mark Murphy, in particular, has been open about welcoming Favre back to Lambeau Field so that Favre can have a reunion with the fans.

Last year, Green Bay planned to have Favre visit the stadium for a home game, but his obligations as offensive coordinator for Oak Grove High in Mississippi got in the way and things fell through. They are hoping that things can be different going forward since Favre has stepped down from that job.

“We do have ongoing communications with him, and I think relations are good,” Murphy said, via the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. “We’re hopeful to have him come back soon. We wanted to have him come back to a game last year, [but] his team kept winning and winning, so it kind of made it tough to find a time where it worked.”
