Tony Romo signed a six-year contract extension with Dallas Cowboys in March.

Tony Romo's 2013 campaign came to an end last season thanks to a back injury, forcing him to watch from the sidelines as the Dallas Cowboys were eliminated from playoff contention again in Week 17.

There had been concern about his health following back surgery in December, but he seems to be recovering well and will be working out with the team this week.

According to ESPN Dallas, Romo will participate in the team's scheduled offseason workout program.

Back in March, Romo had said that he was close to a return. Turns out he was accurate with his own timeline for recovery.

"It's going good," Romo told ESPN."We're getting close now to [returning]. Usually takes three months, it's just normal kinda roundabout date that they give ya and we're right on schedule. Really ahead in a lot of ways. Just going to be ready to go here in about a month and rehab is going good, no setbacks of any kind. Mine [surgery] was just a normal small version of it, so I should be good to go here shortly."

The workouts begin this week with the team's strength-and-conditioning program, so it is a promising sign for the team that he is able to participate and work towards getting himself into playing shape.
