Calvin Johnson still plans to dunk on goalposts despite NFL's new celebration rules

Earlier in the offseason, the NFL decided to ban dunking on goalposts after touchdowns, but that won't stop everyone from throwing the ball down through the uprights. Despite the penalties installed for players who dunk the ball, Detroit Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson, who is one of the most impressive athletes in the league, has no plans to break from his normal celebratory routine.

"I'm still going to dunk," Johnson told the Detroit Free Press. "I just won't touch the rim."
It would be interesting to see what the league would do if Johnson decides to go with the layup celebration, but it would still likely be a penalty. Any use of the football as a prop runs the risk of being flagged.
Because of the new rules, we may see an increase in dead-ball penalties early this season, with New Orleans Saints tight end Jimmy Graham also vowing to continue his dunking celebration when he finds his way to the endzone.
