Brandon Marshall calls 2012 trade from Miami Dolphins to Chicago Bears career-saving

Fresh off his three-year, $30 million  contract extension, Chicago Bears wide receiver Brandon Marshall has been more than happy to praise his franchise in recent days.

In addition to celebrating head coach Marc Trestman, Marshall also said the Miami Dolphins trading him to the Bears in 2012 was "career saving."

“I probably wouldn’t even be having the success that I’m having on the field in that environment [in Miami],” Marshall said. “It wasn’t right for me. So I get back with my buddy Jay [Cutler] and having his leadership and his brotherly love really helped. But it was also the people. ... For me it’s a safe environment.”

Marshall, after seeing minimal snaps during his rookie season with the Denver Broncos, quickly emerged as a force on the field. Troubles outside of the game wore out his Mile High welcome, which eventually led to Marshall being traded to the Dolphins.

Despite  two consecutive 1,000-yard seasons, Marshall wasn't nearly as effective in south Florida and the Dolphins decided to move on by trading him to the Bears in exchange for draft picks that  eventually became Will Davis, Michael Egnew and B.J. Cunningham.
