Jets coach Rex Ryan takes shot at Tim Tebow when talking about WR Eric Decker

This offseason, the New York Jets went out and signed former Denver Broncos wide receiver Eric Decker to a five-year, $36.25 million contract. With a deal as hefty as that, it's safe to assume that the team is putting a lot of stock in Decker's ability to be the No. 1 target on the offense for whomever the quarterback ends up being.

Not everyone is convinced Decker is a true top target. Sure, he hauled in over 1,000 yards in each of the last two seasons while registering double-digit touchdowns, but he was catching those balls from arguably the greatest quarterback in the game, Peyton Manning.

Well his new head coach, Rex Ryan, recently had a rebuttal for the doubters.

When asked whether or not Decker could put up similar numbers with Geno Smith, who is presumed to be the starting quarterback once again this season, Ryan reminded everyone that there was a time Decker nearly broke double-digits in touchdowns -- with Tim Tebow throwing him the ball.

“He did catch eight touchdown passes when [Tim] Tebow was the quarterback,” Ryan pointed out via Newsday.
