Niners TE Vernon Davis reportedly not planning on attending training camp

There's really no telling if in fact Niners tight end Vernon Davis will show up to training camp later in July, but according to a source with knowledge of the situation cited in a report over the weekend from Mike Florio of NBC Sports' Pro Football Talk, the 30-year-old two-time Pro Bowler presently does not have plans to be there.

San Francisco reportedly won't negotiate with Davis or guard Alex Boone for new contracts until they show up, according to Florio. If in fact they are a no-show, the team has recourse to fine them each $30,000 for every missed day of camp as well as pursue a part of any signing bonus they had previously received.

Davis had said in June in a report from the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that he's "not going to lose any sleep" over the negotiations, or lack thereof, but said he needs to at least try his best to make it happen for him:

"At the end of the day, if I don’t get the deal, at least I tried and I put my foot down. If I don’t get it at the moment, I’m not going to lose any sleep."
