The New England Patriots won the AFC East last season with a record of 12-4 but couldn't get past the eventual AFC champion Denver Broncos in the playoffs.

The Patriots' biggest move this offseason was signing corner Darrelle Revis to a one-year, $12 million contract. The move was a response to losing Aqib Talib in free agency to the Broncos.

Other notable defensive departures include Brandon Spikes (Bills) and Patrick Chung (Eagles). Offensively, the Pats lost LeGarrette Blount (Steelers) and Brandon Lloyd (49ers).

They did give Tom Brady some help by re-signing Julian Edelman and bringing in Brandon LaFell from the Panthers. New England also decided not to trade backup quarterback Ryan Mallet, though it did end up drafting a quarterback in the second round as well: Jimmy Garappolo.
