The Minnesota Vikings finished the 2013-14 regular season at 5-10-1. The team had a carousal of quarterbacks; Christian Ponder (nine games), Matt Cassel (six), and Josh Freeman (one) all started for the Vikings last season.

During the offseason, Minnesota signed former New York Giants' defensive tackle Linval Joseph. He had 59 combined tackles and three sacks in 15 games for the Giants last season. The Vikings lost defensive end Jared Allen to the Chicago Bears.

The Vikings drafted linebacker Anthony Barr with the No. 9 overall pick in the 2014 draft, and quarterback Teddy Bridgewater with the No. 32 overall pick. The team also selected defensive end Scott Crichton and running back Jerick McKinnon in the third round.
