Thursday August 14th, 2014

The Arizona Cardinals have signed linebacker Desmond Bishop to a one-year deal, the team announced Thursday.

Bishop, 30, spent the first six years of his career with the Green Bay Packers before playing for the Minnesota Vikings last season. He had four tackles in four games with the Vikings.

The Cardinals were in need of depth at linebacker after several offseason developments. Daryl Washington was suspended for the 2014 season for a second substance abuse violation, Karlos Dansby, the team's leading tackler in 2013, signed with the Cleveland Browns, and veteran John Abraham has not reported to training camp yet following an offseason DUI arrest (though he is expected to report Thursday).

Arizona recently released Ernie Sims.
