Philadelphia Eagles star running back LeSean McCoy left Thursday night's preseason game against the Pittsburgh Steelers with an injury to his right thumb.

McCoy went to the Eagles' locker room for an X-ray, and the team said his return Thursday night was uncertain.

McCoy came into the game nursing a toe injury, which both he and Eagles coach Chip Kelly said was "fine" coming into the week. He fully participated in Eagles' practices earlier this week.

Before his injury Thursday night, McCoy was his typical dominant self, rushing the ball four times for 24 yards while catching two balls for 26 yards and a touchdown. McCoy led the NFL in rushing last season with 1,607 yards, earning him first team All-Pro honors.
