Michael Sam, who became the first openly gay player drafted into the NFL when the St. Louis Rams picked him in the seventh round of this year's draft, was not among the 10 players the team waived on Monday.

The Rams, who now count 79 players, have until tomorrow at 4 p.m. ET to cut four more players in compliance with the NFL roster size limit.

Sam, 24, has compiled three sacks and five tackles over three preseason games, including two takedowns of Cleveland rookie quarterback Johnny Manziel in Saturday's 33-14 win over Cleveland.
