Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson predicted Thursday that he'll score a touchdown on his first carry of the season on Sunday against the St. Louis Rams.
"I might as well speak it,’’ he said, according to Chris Tomasson of the St. Paul Pioneer Press. "Touchdown. First run.’’
Peterson opened the 2013 season with a touchdown run on his first carry against the Lions. While he did not publicly predict last year's opening touchdown, the running back said he told some teammates earlier in the week that he would score on the play.
In 2013, Peterson opened the regular season without having taken a single preseason carry. The same will be true for this season after he sat out all four of the Vikings' exhibition contests.
Minnesota travels to St. Louis for a 1 p.m. ET kickoff on Sunday.
