The illness has caused Allen to drop 18 pounds in the last week, Glazer said, and the Bears deactivated him early Sunday after he underwent X-rays on his chest.

Allen, a five-time Pro Bowler, signed a four-year, $32 million deal with Chicago in March. In his first season with the team, he has racked up six tackles and one forced fumble.
