Atlanta Falcons return specialist and wide receiver Devin Hester said Wednesday that he was bothered by the Bears not offering him a contract in free agency this year.

Hester signed a three-year, $9 million contract with Atlanta in March after spending the first eight seasons of his career in Chicago. The 31-year-old holds the NFL record for the most combined punt and kick returns for touchdowns (20). Hester reportedly said in August that he wanted to retire with the Bears.

The Falcons (2-3) host the Bears (2-3) on Sunday.

"It bothers you when your contract's up and the team doesn't offer you anything," Hester said. He continued: "They didn't offer me no contract. They didn't call me or nothing. They didn't call me period, pretty much."

Over five games this season, Hester has returned eight punts for an average of 14.4 yards per return and 12 kicks for an average of 24.2 yards per return. He has also caught 14 passes for 212 yards and a touchdown.

Can Tony Sparano fix the Raiders in time for Sunday?
