Giants sign WR Ogletree, CB Fenner in wake of injuries

The New York Giants made a number of roster moves to its wide receiving and defensive backs corps Tuesday in the wake of injuries sustained Sunday.

The team signed free agent wide receiver Kevin Ogletree while officially placing injured wide receiver Victor Cruz and cornerback Trumaine McBride on the season-ending injured reserve, according toThe Record's Art Stapleton. The Giants also added wide receiver Chris Harper to the practice squad and cornerback Chandler Fenner to the active roster, while terminating the contract of wide receiver Travis Harvey, Stapleton tweeted

Cruz injured his patellar tendon in a graphic, non-contact fall Sunday night while attempted to catch a pass in the end zone. He was transferred to a hospital in New York Monday where doctors successfully performed surgery on him. 

McBridge injured his thumb in the the same game Sunday. He also underwent surgery and will also miss the rest of the 2014 season. 

Ogletree, most recently of the Detroit Lions, has not played in a game so far in the 2014 season. In seven career NFL seasons he has 78 receptions and six career touchdowns. Ogletree worked out for the Giants Tuesday, according to the Star-LedgerChandler is a third-year player out of Holy Cross who has played in one NFL game his entire three-season career.
