New York Giants leading rusher Rashad Jennings, who sat out last week with a sprained MCL, will not play against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday, coach Tom Coughlin told reporters Wednesday.

Jennings injured his knee in the second half of the Giants’ Week 5 victory over the Atlanta Falcons. Jennings said the MCL sprain would not require surgery.

Coughlin is unsure of when Jennings will return, but hopes to have him back after next week’s bye. He also said Jennings has not run yet and will “begin that phase soon.”

The 29-year-old running back has 396 yards and two touchdowns on the season, his first with the New York Giants. He is expected to be replaced by rookie fourth-round pick Andre Williams, who started in place of Jennings last week.
