Green Bay Packers starting cornerback Sam Shields will not play in Sunday’s game against the Carolina Panthers because of a knee strain, the team announced Friday.

The Packers' other starting cornerback, Tramon Williams, is questionable with an ankle injury. Both were injured in the second half of the Packers' Week 6 27-24 victory over the Miami Dolphins. Neither practiced during the week.

The team also announced that defensive end Datone Jones will miss a second straight game because of an ankle injury.

“We’re still going through the process. He’s better today than he was yesterday,” Packers head coach Mike McCarthy said about Williams on Friday. “Tomorrow will be the biggest indicator with us going to the practice field. As I stated earlier in the week, we’ll give Tramon Williams every opportunity all the way up until game time to play.”

Shields has 14 total tackles and two interceptions and Williams has 32 tackles and one interception this season for Green Bay (4-2).
