San Diego Chargers defensive back Jahleel Addae suffered a concussion Thursday night after a hit during a running play against the Denver Broncos, a team official confirmed to Kevin Acee of San Diego Union-Tribune on Friday evening.

Addae fell to the ground after a hit in the first quarter. Later, he appeared to have a involuntary reaction to the hit that came late in the third quarter of the 35-21 AFC West loss.

He was evaluated on the sideline afterwards, and eventually returned to the game.

According to Acee, Addae underwent further examination on Friday afternoon, revealing that he had indeed suffered a concussion.

San Diego coach Mike McCoy said that the team followed proper medical procedure after the hits, and, according to ESPN, Addae said after the game that he had passed the NFL's concussion test.

"Like every player regardless of what the injury is, you monitor them throughout the game," McCoy said. "The first time he was checked out."

Addae is in his second year in the league, both with the Chargers. Last season he played all 16 games, recording 26 tackles, one sack and three passes deflected. Through six games this year, he has 13 tackles, one sack and a fumble recovery.

The Chargers, 5-3 and second in the AFC West, travel to Miami to face the Dolphins next week. When asked about Addae's status for that game, McCoy said the team would "play the healthiest 46."
