Detroit Lions running back Reggie Bush will not play in Thursday's game against the Chicago Bears because of an ankle injury, CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora reports.

It will be the third straight game Bush has sat out with the injury as he has been limited to just seven games this season. In his second season with the Lions, Bush has 191 rushing yards and 169 receiving yards. Last season, he set a career-high with 1,512 yards from scrimmage.

Joique Bell has been the team's lead back in Bush's absence. Bell has rushed 141 times for 490 yards and three touchdowns, while also catching 21 passes for 202 yards.

After finishing No. 6 in yards gained and No. 13 in points last season, the Lions have fallen to No 21 in yards and No. 28 in points this season while dealing with injuries to Bush and star receiver Calvin Johnson.

Detroit is 7-4 on the season and in second place in the NFC North. The Lions host the Bears at 12:30 p.m. ET on Thursday.
