Jets place Salas on IR, promote Owusu

FLORHAM PARK, N.J. (AP) The New York Jets have placed wide receiver Greg Salas on season-ending injured reserve and signed wide receiver Chris Owusu from the practice squad.

Salas suffered what coach Rex Ryan called ''a major hamstring injury'' on his 20-yard end-around reverse for his first NFL touchdown in the first quarter of New York's 16-13 loss to Miami last Monday night. Salas had eight catches for 167 yards in his second season with the Jets.

This will be Owusu's second stint on the Jets' active roster this season. He was signed as a free agent in September and was inactive for three games before having one catch for 7 yards against Buffalo in Week 8. Owusu was cut the following week and then brought back to the practice squad.
