Report: Bengals WR A.J. Green under NFL's concussion protocol

Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver A.J. Green is in the NFL’s concussion protocol after being hit in the head during Sunday night’s 27-17 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers, The Cincinnati Enquirer's Paul Dehner Jr. reports.

Green was nailed by Steelers safety Mike Mitchell after making a 17-yard reception in the fourth quarter. Before the hit, Green was stripped of the ball, which was recovered by the Steelers.

Pittsburgh scored four plays later on a 63-yard touchdown pass from Ben Roethlisberger to Antonio Brown.

Green had eight catches for 82 yards in the game before leaving the game for good after the hit by Mitchell.

To play in next Sunday’s AFC Wild Card game against the Indianapolis Colts, Green must be cleared by a team physician and an independent neurological consultant. 

Green finished the regular season with 69 catches for 1,041 yards and six touchdowns.
