Indianapolis Colts running back Trent Richardson was practicing with the team's punt coverage unit at practice on Thursday, according to Zak Keefer of the Indianapolis Star

The Colts traded a first-round draft pick last season to acquire Richardson from the Cleveland Brown but he has since been passed on the depth chart. Even with Ahmad Bradshaw injured, Richardson has been relegated to third-string running back behind Daniel Herron and Zurlon Tipton.

"I'm here to do whatever I can to help the team," Richardson said after practice, according to ESPN.com.

Richardson has not played a single snap on special teams this season. He played only one offensive snap in the Colts' playoff victory over the Cincinnati Bengals

Richardson, a former No. 3 pick, has averaged 3.5 yards per carry in 29 games with the Colts. This season, he has rushed for 519 yards on 159 carries with three touchdowns.
