CHICAGO (AP) Veteran NFL kicker Jay Feely says the Chicago Bears lacked leadership from quarterback Jay Cutler and former coach Marc Trestman.

Feely, who signed with Chicago in December and filled in for the injured Robbie Gould, praised Trestman as a ''very smart'' offensive coach but said he did not command the locker room in an interview with Sirius XM's Mad Dog Sports Radio. He said Trestman was ''a little awkward'' when he addressed the team.

Feely also said Cutler ''doesn't like to lead,'' which created a vacuum in that area, and that it's up to the front office to surround him with players who fill that role.

Chicago fired general manager Phil Emery and Trestman after going 5-11. The Bears replaced them with Ryan Pace and John Fox.
