New England Patriots running back Jonas Gray said on Thursday's SI Now that quarterback Tom Brady was sick during the Patriots' win over the Seattle Seahawks in Super Bowl XLIX.

Brady told reporters on the Wednesday before the Super Bowl he'd been batting a cold for "four or five days," but said he would be "100 percent" for the game.

"He was really sick," said Gray. "Every two seconds he had the hand sanitizer ... he would shake somebody's hand and then you'd hear the squirt."

Gray said his team did everything they could to not catch the cold by avoiding touching things that Brady had touched.

"We couldn't get sick, it was too important," said Gray.

Brady was named MVP of Super Bowl XLIX after he completed 37 of 50 passes for 328 yards with four touchdowns and two interceptions in leading the Patriots to a 28-24 win.
