NEW YORK (AP) A person familiar with the deal says the New York Jets and safety Marcus Gilchrist have agreed to terms on a four-year contract.

Gilchrist spent his first four NFL seasons with the San Diego Chargers after being a second-round draft pick out of Clemson in 2011. The person spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the team hadn't announced the signing Thursday night. NFL Network first reported the agreement.

Gilchrist has five interceptions, three sacks and three forced fumbles in his career. He has started every game the last two seasons for the Chargers, and is the latest addition to a revamped Jets secondary. New York signed cornerbacks Darrelle Revis and Antonio Cromartie to big deals in the last two days.
