New York Giants introduce new ticket price system

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) The New York Giants have cut prices for preseason tickets almost in half as part of a new program that will reduce the overall cost of season package slightly for almost all fans.

The Giants sent an email to season ticket holders Tuesday with an outline of the changes.

The team said the price of preseason tickets will be cut by roughly 50 percent of the cost of a regular-season ticket. The cost of the regular-season tickets for the eight home games will increase $10-$20 for ''non-club'' tickets, depending on location, and by $15-$25 for ''club'' game tickets, again depending on location.

Under the old package, the cost for preseason and regular-season games was the same.

These are the first adjustments to Giants' ticket prices since MetLife Stadium's inaugural 2010 season. Tom Coughlin's team has missed the playoffs the past three seasons, including a 6-10 record last season.

The price category with the largest number of season tickets in 2014 was $120 per ticket. The cost of two preseason games and eight regular-season games was $1,200.

This year, the ticket holder will pay $66 per game for two preseason games for a total of $132, plus 8 regular season games at $132 per for a total of $1056. The total cost will be $1188, or $12 less.

''We believe the modifications we have made in our season ticket pricing offers you the greatest value for the overall season ticket package,'' co-owners John Mara and Steve Tisch wrote in the letter to season ticket holders, who were thanked for their loyal and passionate support.

The cost of parking will remain at $30 per game.
