QB Sims among 3 tryout players signed by Cardinals

TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) The Arizona Cardinals have signed three players who tried out for the team, including quarterback Phillip Sims.

The other two are safeties Harold Jones-Quartey and Brandon Person. All three are from NCAA Division II schools and tried out for the team at its rookie minicamp over the weekend.

The 6-foot-4. 210-pound Sims, a high school All-American, started his career at Alabama, but transferred to Virginia and finished at Winston-Salem State. Jones-Quartey played for Findlay and Person at Tiffin.

Coach Bruce Arians praised Sims' passing skills after the first workout. He is the fifth quarterback on the Arizona roster.
