Reports: Buccaneers agree to sign former Seahawks DT Tony McDaniel
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have agreed to sign free-agent defensive tackle Tony McDaniel to a one-year deal worth a maximum of $2.5 million, according to multiple reports. Pro Football Talk was first to report the deal, followed by Rand Getlin of NFL Network.
McDaniel, 30, was released by the Seahawks last week in order to create room on the salary cap after Seattle signed Bobby Wagner and Russell Wilson to expensive contract extensions. He was due to make about $3 million from the Seahawks in 2015.
McDaniel played in all of Seattle’s 38 games over the past two years, including the postseason, and started all but four. He had 84 tackles in 32 regular-season games, along with two sacks and a safety. He played on 40.9% of Seattle’s defensive snaps last season, fourth among Seattle defensive linemen.
