Bears WR Alshon Jeffery expected to miss one week with calf strain
Chicago Bears wide receiver Alshon Jeffery is expected to miss one week with a mild calf strain, reports ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Jeffery injured his calf earlier in the week during practice. He did not play in the Bears' first preseason game against the Miami Dolphins on Thursday.
The receiver was spotted using crutches during the week, then wearing a walking boot after Thursday's game.
Jeffery is expected to be the Bears' No. 1 receiver after Chicago traded Brandon Marshall to New York this offseason. Jeffery, who is entering his fourth season, has led the Bears in receiving yards in each of the last two seasons.
In 2013, Jeffery made the Pro Bowl, recording 89 catches for over 1,400 yards and seven touchdowns. Last year, Jeffery caught 85 passes for 1,133 yards and 10 scores.
Chicago's next preseason game is on Aug. 22 at Indianapolis.
