Jets tight end Jace Amaro is out for the season with a torn labrum.

New York Jets tight end Jace Amaro was placed on the season-ending injured reserve list with a torn labrum, the team announced Tuesday.

Amaro, a second-round pick out of Texas Tech in the 2014 draft, will undergo shoulder surgery to repair the tear. He suffered the shoulder injury in the Jets' preseason opener against the Detroit Lions.

As a rookie, Amaro had 38 receptions for 345 total yards and two touchdowns.

The Jets also placed defensive end Kevin Vickerson on injured reserve and waived injured cornerback Dashaun Phillips on Tuesday to cut its roster to the NFL limit of 75 players. 

All NFL teams must be down to 53 players on their rosters by Saturday at 4 p.m.
