NFLPA withdraws contempt-of-court motion in Peterson case

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) The NFL Players Association has withdrawn its contempt-of-court motion against NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell in the case of Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson's suspension.

The settlement of the NFLPA's May 19 motion was announced Monday by the U.S. District Court in Minneapolis. Attorneys for both sides gave oral arguments Aug. 26 in front of U.S. District Judge David Doty and spent the rest of the day in mediation with U.S. Magistrate Judge Janie Mayeron.

Doty ruled Feb. 26 that the league's arbitrator who denied Peterson's appeal of his suspension under the personal conduct policy should reassess that decision, one of several legal losses for the NFL lately.

The league appealed Doty's ruling to the 8th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, which will hear the case Oct. 19 in St. Paul.
