NFL players' union to run Collegiate Bowl all-star game in January

CARSON, Calif. (AP) - The NFL players' union will run the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl for the fifth straight year, staging the all-star game at StubHub Center on Jan. 23.

The teams will be led by former Super Bowl coaches Mike Holmgren and Mike Martz for the second consecutive year; Martz's team beat Holmgren's squad last winter.

ESPN2 will televise the game.

Along with practices and the game, players will be instructed in the business of football and how to succeed in the NFL and in their post-football careers. The NFL Players Association celebrates its 60th year in 2016.

Pro Football Hall of Fame players who have served as NFLPA Collegiate Bowl coaches have included Jackie Slater, Andre Reed, Charlie Joiner and Darrell Green.

The 27,000-seat StubHub Center outside Los Angeles is home to Major League Soccer's Galaxy.
