Report: Titans QB Marcus Mariota to have MRI on injured knee
Titans quarterback Marcus Mariota will have an MRI on his left knee Monday after a low hit by Dolphins defensive end Olivier Vernon, Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio reports. ESPN’s Adam Schefter confirmed Florio’s report.
Mariota was able to stay in the game after the hit and wore a brace on the knee. Titans coach Ken Whisenhunt and offensive lineman Taylor Lewan said after the game they thought Vernon’s hit was dirty. Vernon was penalized for roughing the passer on the play.
“[T]he Titans hope it’s just an MCL injury, which can heal with rest,” Florio reports.
Mariota, the second pick in this year’s draft, completed 21 of 33 passes for 219 yards with a touchdown and two interceptions in Sunday’s game. He was sacked six times and lost two fumbles as the Dolphins blew out Tennessee 38–10.
During his rookie season, Mariota has completed 64.1% of his passes for 1,020 yards, eight touchdowns and three interceptions.
