Eagles getting healthy going into matchup with Cowboys
''Everybody, but (left tackle) Jason Peters should go today,'' Eagles coach Chip Kelly said before Tuesday's short practice. ''We've got to monitor them and see how they do, but everybody's going to start out today.''
Peters, who suffered back spasms in the Eagles' previous game against the Carolina Panthers on Oct. 25, then joined the rest of the team in limited work for the hour-long workout on Tuesday.
''He's made progress,'' Kelly said of Peters. ''He stayed here over the bye and got treatment and has made progress. So it looks like he's moving around. So we'll see. He may do some little things today, but he won't be in drills like the other guys. Maybe we'll get him back out (Wednesday).''
So for the first time since the regular season began Kelly had all 53 roster players practicing.
Included in the mix was linebacker Kiko Alonso, who has been out with a knee injury suffered the second week of the season that needed arthroscopic surgery.
''It felt good,'' Alonso said after Tuesday's workout. ''I feel good.''
Asked if he thought he could return for Sunday's game, Alonso was optimistic.
''For sure,'' he said. ''That's the goal. That's the ultimate goal. This (the Cowboys' game the week after the bye) was always the target (date).''
Alonso, acquired from the Buffalo Bills for the franchise's career leading rusher LeSean McCoy last March, missed most of training camp and the preseason as he came back from a torn ACL and then suffered a concussion.
The following week he suffered the knee injury against the Cowboys and hasn't played since.
''I was just running and when I cut, I felt something,'' Alonso said. ''It's no fun missing a lot of time. I'm anxious to get back out there. Hopefully, I haven't missed a beat.''
Alonso and Peters weren't the only Eagles players returning to practice on Tuesday.
Rookie wide receiver Nelson Agholor, who missed two games with a sprained ankle, was also back on the practice field as was wide receiver Riley Cooper. Cooper didn't miss a game, but played sparingly against Carolina.
