The Dallas Cowboys are expected to sign free-agent running back Robert Turbin, reports Nick Eatman on the team website.

The move comes a day after the team released 25-year-old running back Christine Michael. As long as Turbin passes his physical, he could be ready to practice with the team by Wednesday afternoon.

Turbin will join a backfield that already includes Darren McFadden, Rod Smith and Trey Williams, who signed with the team off the Washington Redskins practice squad on Nov. 4.

Turbin was cut by the Cleveland Browns after just three games this season. He spent his first three seasons with the Seattle Seahawks, rushing for 928 yards as Marshawn Lynch’s backup.

Turbin was a fourth-round pick by the Seahawks in 2012.

The Cowboys (2–7) play the Miami Dolphins (4–5) on Sunday.
