Cardinals quarterback Carson Palmerhas been fined $11,576 for unsportsmanlike conduct after making a sideline gesture toward the crowd during Arizona’s 39–32 win over Seattle, the league announced Friday.

Palmer emphatically celebrated a late fourth-quarter touchdown that gave the Cardinals a 39–29 lead. He told ESPN that his celebration was meant for friends of his that were sitting in the stands behind Arizona’s bench, not to taunt opposing fans.

"I had my buddies in the sideline, right four or five rows up," Palmer said. "I saw them pretty excited and [that] got me excited to see them excited."
