Week 12 of the NFL season starts in full force Thursday with three Thanksgiving Day games. The festivities kick off when the Detroit Lions (3–7) host the Philadelphia Eagles (4–6), followed by the undefeated Carolina Panthers’ (10–0) trip to Texas to face the Dallas Cowboys (3–7). Finally, Thursday Night Football gives the holiday late birds a dose of NFC North football as the Chicago Bears (4–6) visit the Green Bay Packers (7–3).

• St. Louis Rams wide receiver Stedman Bailey was shot in the head in Florida late Tuesday night, according to multiple media reports. He is currently in stable condition, with surgery scheduled at a Miami intensive care unit for Wednesday, reports NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport.

• Cleveland Browns head coach Mike Pettine has demoted quarterback Johnny Manziel to a third-string role after videos surfaced during the team’s bye week of Manziel partying. Josh McCown will once again take over the starting job, the team announced.

• Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch is expected to miss a month after undergoing surgery on a sports hernia, according to multiplemedia reports.
