Two members of the Broncos defense left Sunday’s game against the Patriots to have X-rays on their ankles. Safety T.J. Ward and nose tackle Sylvester Williams headed to the locker room on the same cart during the first half. The team later announced that both players would not return to the game.

Ward was suspended for the first game of the season but has started each of Denver’s last 10 games at strong safety. He has 45 solo tackles and two assists on the season. David Bruton Jr. is listed as his backup.

Sylvester, Denver’s starting nose tackle, has only missed three games since he was taken in the first round of the 2013 draft. He has 2.5 sacks and 12 solo tackles this season. Rookie Darius Kilgo is the second-string nose tackle
