Roger Goodell: San Diego unlikely to present plan to keep Chargers
The city of San Diego appears unlikely to be able to present a plan to the NFL that would keep the Chargers in the city, commissioner Roger Goodell said Wednesday, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune.
The league has set Dec. 28 as the deadline for San Diego, Oakland and St. Louis to present the NFL with plans for keeping their respective franchises. San Diego, Goodell said, is unlikely to have a viable plan by then. The league wants the cities’ plans to have “certainty,” he said.
“Certainty means no further votes required,” Goodell said, “that there is a deal that is fully approved, that there are not complications that are unforeseen, that this project can be completed. It’s that simple.”

Earlier Wednesday, NFL owners said they hope to vote on relocation proposals in January.
The Chargers, like the Raiders and Rams, are seeking to relocate to Los Angeles if they can’t get their current home cities to build new stadiums.
