The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have signed free-agent defensive lineman Da’Quan Bowers, the team announced Tuesday.

The move comes two days after Tampa Bay’s starting defensive tackle Akeem Spence sustained an ankle injury in a 24–17 loss to the New Orleans Saints.

The team already lost defensive tackle Clinton McDonald to a torn pectoral muscle during Week 7, and defensive tackle Gerald McCoy is still recovering from a procedure on his hand conducted on Dec. 3.

Report: Brock Osweiler expected to start for Broncos vs. Steelers

Bowers was drafted by the Buccaneers in the second round of the 2011 NFL Draft. He played in 50 games, starting 10 of them, in his first four seasons with the team, and recorded 45 tackles with seven sacks.

He was cut before the start of the 2015 regular season.
