The Redskins are reportedly signing tight end Alex Smith.
Smith, 33, last appeared in an NFL game in 2013 while with the Cincinnati Bengals. That season, Smith played in 16 games and recorded just three receptions for 12 yards and one touchdown.
In nine seasons in the league, Smith has recorded 163 receptions for 1,473 yards and 13 touchdowns. The Redskins are the seventh team Smith has played for during his NFL tenure.
A third round pick of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the 2005 draft out of Stanford, Smith was a second team consensus All America selection in 2004.
Smith’s best NFL season came in his rookie campaign when he recorded 41 receptions for 367 yards and two touchdowns in 16 games for the Bucs.
