St. Louis passes financing of potential new NFL stadium
The St. Louis Board of Aldermen passed the financing of a potential new NFL stadium on the north riverfront area of the city with a 17–10 vote, according to Nicolas J.S. Pistor of the St. Louis Post Dispatch.
The future of the Rams now rests in the hand of the NFL commissioner's office and the league owners, who will decide whether the team will move to Los Angeles. Rams owner Stan Kroenke has also proposed moving to Los Angeles after purchasing 60 acres of land in Inglewood in 2014 with plans to build a $1.86-billion, 80,000-seat NFL stadium.
The plan to keep the Rams in St. Louis calls for a city funded backing of $150 million for the $1.1 billion project. The rest of the money will be put up by the state, NFL, and team owner.

On Thursday, commissioner Roger Goodell reminded organizers that the league provides only a maximum of $200 million to help teams build new stadiums.
